In the 60s and 70s, a sophisticated man would step up to the bar and ask for bourbon and ginger – bourbon mixed with ginger ale. These days, the drink is
passé. But in the retro spirit, I've updated it.
Last year, I introduced you to the pleasure of Koval's Rye Spirit. Now I'm going to use their ginger liqueur. It's made in small batches from hand-peeled ginger at Koval's distillery, very close to where I live. It's too sweet for my taste as a standalone drink, but mixed with bourbon and lemon juice, it hits the spot.
 | 3 oz bourbon |
| 1 oz Koval Ginger Liqueur |
| 2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice |
Shake ingredients with ice. Strain into a lowball glass and serve with a twist of lemon.
