In the 60s and 70s, a sophisticated man would step up to the bar and ask for bourbon and ginger bourbon mixed with ginger ale. These days, the drink is
passé. But in the retro spirit, I've updated it.
Last year, I introduced you to the pleasure of Koval's Rye Spirit. Now I'm going to use their ginger liqueur. It's made in small batches from hand-peeled ginger at Koval's distillery, very close to where I live. It's too sweet for my taste as a standalone drink, but mixed with bourbon and lemon juice, it hits the spot.
3 oz bourbon
1 oz Koval Ginger Liqueur
2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
Shake ingredients with ice. Strain into a lowball glass and serve with a twist of lemon.
